The department will cater for A.M.E.B. Exams, V.C.E. Music Performance exams and ensemble activities such as school performances, eisteddfods, community concerts, camps, competitions and workshops. All of our teachers have tertiary qualifications in music and have years of experience as successful Instrumental Music teachers. They are experts in their fields, and we are privileged to have them in the team at St John’s College. Each teacher works with students to provide a holistic instrumental music education that develops passion and enthusiasm for music as well as delivering excellent educational outcomes.
St John’s College is focused on excellence in education and is always looking to strengthen student’s learning and wealth of experience through its innovative approach to building and maintaining programs. St John’s College is excited for students to embark upon the next phase of musical growth through Private Instrumental Music lessons and ensembles, in addition to the well-established Greek Music Program. The music department is working closely on building the foundations towards a concert band for wind and brass instruments, a string orchestra, a choir and a thriving contemporary/rock music program comprised of individuals and groups regularly composing, recording and doing concerts. Music is a compulsory subject from Foundation to Year 8 and all students are encouraged to participate in the instrumental music program, the dance group or school band.
