Farewell Stelios Tsiolas – May his memory be eternal
It is with great sadness that we share the news that our former teacher Stelios Tsiolas has passed away. Stelios was a gifted and committed music teacher at St John’s College, who encouraged every one of his students along their musical journey. With his students, Stelios wrote and composed the St John’s College school song, ‘St John’s in our heart’, proudly singing it at every school assembly and event. His talents though were not confined to the classroom. It is with the St John’s College Drumming Band that he will always be associated. For over 30 years, Stelios dedicated his time in teaching our students the skills of drumming, ensuring that they were the very best at every occasion they were asked to attend. This included the Greek Independence Day March, Good Friday Epitaphios, honouring the freedom fighters of Cyprus and hosting the Evzones. A much-loved and respected teacher and colleague, Stelios was supportive, optimistic, resourceful, funny and creative. He embodied philotimo. Stelios’ legacy at St John’s College will forever be valued. We express our deepest sympathy to his wife Roula and family. Ο Θεός να τον αναπαύει. May his memory be eternal.
